The Parable of the Faithful Fool
A man stands at the edge of the John Hancock tower.
The day is bright and warm, but the wind cuts with a chill as he looks over the precipice.
The sky is azure and clear. His mind is not.
He takes a step closer to the ledge of the building.
He leans forward.
The cars on the street 40 stories below look like children’s toys.
“Jesus, I trust you.”
He pauses for moment as He looks up to cotton wisp clouds that feel just out of arms reach.
He laughs.
He leaps.
He falls.
At heaven's gate, he demands an answer from God.
“Jesus, I trusted you. Why didn’t you catch me when I jumped?”
Jesus replies: “Welcome home, my friend. Why did you jump?”
