Pioneer, you have an Unseen Enemy called Fear
Pioneer, you have an Unseen Enemy called Fear.
Whenever God invites you to get into deeper alignment, there will be spiritual opposition to intimidate you so that you shrink back.
The enemy wants you to run away from your destiny so that God’s plans for His Kingdom & your life are delayed.
Or worse, that you never fulfill your destiny in your lifetime.
This is NOT what Jesus wants for you.
If you ever had the following thoughts, there are fears you need to conquer:
“I’m not good enough.”
“Why would God use me to do that?”
“Do I really have what it takes?”
These thoughts are not your own. Their missiles from the enemy to kill your faith.
Like the Israelite army before Goliath, the goal of fear is to keep you stuck. To make you feel like the giant you’re facing is bigger than the God you serve.
Unlike the Israelite army, fear can be harder to detect because this Goliath isn’t physical, it’s spiritual.
Yet if you’re like me, you’re willing to fight fear for the victory. Just like David fought Goliath.
Not because we’re so special. But because we know that the God we serve is greater than the fear attacking us.
But we need a game plan to fight fear. This isn’t a battle that you win with intellect alone. You must be aware of the spiritual realities if you want to overcome fear.
So what is fear?
DECODING FEAR
I’m going to break fear all the way down so that you know the enemy you’re facing.
The Greek word for ‘fear’ is ‘phobos’. It is where we get words like phobia from in English.
From 2 Timothy 1:7, we know that fear is a spirit. That spirit of fear is not from God.
That spirit of fear needs to be cast out. The spirit of fear is cast out through maturing in our love for Yahweh and one another.
Why does fear need to be cast out?
Because fear is a liar.
Fear makes us weak, without love, and double minded.
Fear stops us from advancing the Kingdom of God on earth. Fear keeps us from living the life that God desires for us.
Fear will steal, kill & destroy everything that we hope for if we don’t kill it first.
That’s the fruit of the spirit of fear.
As believers, we have not been given a spirit of fear but of power, love & a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).
Yet fear can seep into our day to day lives without us realizing it until it’s too late.
So how do we overcome it?
LOVE VS. FEAR
Scripture says there is no fear in love, because perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18).
This verse is the key to overcoming fear. I’ll explain why.
“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.” 1 John 4:18 NKJV (emphasis added)
In Greek, the phrase ‘perfect love’ is translated as ‘teleios agape’. 'Teleios' in the Bible is defined as something that is finished, completed, perfect, full grown, and mature (Strongs G5046).
You love God, that much is clear. You wouldn’t be reading this now if you didn’t.
Yet it is not any type of love that can overcome fear. Only a perfect love or a mature love overcomes. This is why maturity in the faith is essential.
To struggle with fear in a particular area of your life does not mean that the love of God is not in you, but it does mean that it is immature in that area.
To overcome fear, you first must be aware of where you’re under attack. It could be your career, your finances, your family, etc.
Then, you must partner with God by using the Word of God to combat the fearful thoughts attacking your mind.
So very time you hear, “I’m not good enough,” declare, “I am fearfully and wonderfully made”.
If you get hit with, “why would God use me to do that?” decree, “the Lord is my strength.”
If you wonder, “do I really have what it takes?” say aloud, “I am more than a conqueror.”
No matter what comes your way, always put up your shield of faith to extinguish fear’s fiery darts (Ephesians 6:16).
FREEDOM FROM FEAR
As we grow & mature in love of God and of one another, shame and fear will be cast out of us.
What does it mean for fear to be cast out?
In the Greek, the word used for ‘cast out’ is ‘exo ballo’. This is the same word that is used when Jesus and the disciples cast out demons all throughout the New Testament.
Now pay attention. This is where it gets good.
The word ‘devil’ in the Greek is ‘diabolos’ which comes from the root word ‘diaballo’.
‘Diaballo’ means to slander, accuse, defame, to traduce, calumniate, to throw over or across.
Here’s what’s interesting. The word ‘diabollo’ can be split into 2 root words, ‘dia’ and ‘ballo’.
That end word ‘ballo’ is the same end word that we see in ‘exo ballo’.
Jesus and his disciples cast out devils. Or in other words, Jesus & His disciples ‘ekballo’ devils.
As disciples of Jesus, as children of God, we are called to cast out devils too.
The identity of the devil is one who accuses. Yet he is also one who is cast out.
So we ‘ekballo’ the ‘diabolos’. This means we cast out the one who casts accusation towards us!
Bottom line: the spirit of fear is a devil that we need to cast out of us.
Because of Jesus, we have the power to do this.
This is good news for us who belong to Jesus!
So the next time you’re tempted with fear, remember this. Jesus already won the war against our enemy. That is more than half the fight.
Now you must partner with Him in faith so that you can win the battle for your mind.
You have what it takes to conquer. All you have to do is pick up your sword, your shield & fight (and this free deliverance training will help you to do that).
